Electric car sales in the Turkish automobile market increased by 465.3 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 12,792.

According to the data compiled from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), total sales of automobiles and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 55.3 percent in the January-June period of 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year, and amounted to 555 thousand 867.

In the said period, automobile sales increased by 54.5 percent to 429 thousand 870 units, while light commercial vehicle sales increased by 58.2 percent to 125 thousand 997 units.
