Features
Tinplate is a thin steel sheet coated by tin that has an extremely beautiful metallic luster.
Produced by electrolytically tin coating of cold-rolled low carbon flat steel and can be supplied as continuous annealed (CA) or batch annealed (BA) as well as single reduced (SR) or double reduced (DR).
A proper coating weight is selected to obtain appropriate corrosion resistance against container contents.
Side surfaces can be coated both in equal and different weights.
Products with various kinds of colour tone are produced by combining the surface roughness of the substrate steel sheet.
Tinplate is often used as packaging material. Think of aerosols/spray cans, beverage cans, bottle caps and crown corks, but also paint cans as well as wrapping paper for chocolate and candies.
Tinplate is very well-suited for recycling purposes, as opposed to plastic and other synthetic packaging materials. Like many other metals, tinplate is 100&49; recyclable. The sustainable and circular character of tinplate contributes to the large-scale usage of tinplate as packaging material, such as in the food industry.
